MarCom Mumblings: Ronda's Tips & Tricks

As one who works in technology, I’m often an early adopter searching out the latest tools, tricks and tips. In addition, working solo, I like finding tools that make my life easier. So, I thought I’d share a few favorite helpful websites and apps!

Canva -  Definitely not a replacement for a fabulous graphic designer, but great for making up simple graphics for social media, blog posts, and other one-offs

Pixlr -  Web-based version of photoshop

Placeit -  Can enter a screenshot/videos onto various screens (iPad/iPhone/etc.) -  Need I say anything? -  Add annotation, shapes & sketches to photos/screenshots (also has a handy “blur” feature)

Piktochart -  Free & “premium” templates, graphics & icons for creating infographics

Over/Overvideo & WordSwag -  Add text to your photos (Canva also works) -  easily make excel graphs look great

Buzzsumo -  Analyze what content performs best for any topic (or competitor) & find the key influencers in your industry

Social Crawlytics -  Identify your competitor’s most shared content

Talkwalker or Mention -  Alternative to Google Alerts; monitor your brand or keywords (Note -  I frequently get different results from all of them, including Google.)

Ubersuggest -  Helpful site with keyword research & blog post titles

Moz -  Reporting tools for ranks, traffic social, content & branding

Wordstream -  Check out their free keyword tools

Majestic SEO -  Quickly gauge the performance of your site

InboundWriter -  Suggestions for optimizing your blog posts

Wistia -  Video hosting with easy embedding, branding & sharing; includes basic analytics; free for 50 videos. (Has a heat map so you can see how much of the video people have watched. You can also put it behind a sign in.)

PowToon -  “Free” (watermarked!), animated videos & presentations; premium accounts have benefits

Slidely or Magisto -  Turn slides into video marketing/slideshow

Adobe Voice -  iPad only app: to make videos with your own footage, photos or graphics
