The season of giving will be upon us before you know it!
This time of year, it’s easy to get caught up in holiday shopping, parties, and all things indulgent. To balance that out, get your co-workers together to give back and help those less fortunate enjoy a happy holiday season.
Here are some ideas on how you can get involved:
-Race To Feed Our Veterans: Join Meals on Wheels Spokane on November 12 for their 5th Annual Race To Feed Our Veterans. Whether you choose to run, walk, or volunteer – you’ll be helping feed homeless Veterans. Plus, all participants get to enjoy cider, cookies, and chili after the race! Visit www.mowspokane.org/veterans-5k to register.
-Tom’s Turkey Drive: KREM 2 and Second Harvest will be handing out 11,000 turkey dinners (with all of the fixings!) to make sure everyone in the Inland Northwest has a Thanksgiving dinner. Hundreds of volunteers are needed to help put together the meals and distribute on Turkey Tuesday (November 21). Click on www.krem.com/features/toms-turkey-drive to sign up. *Shameless plug! If you’re not free to help at Tom’s Turkey Drive, but still want to give, you can make a monetary donation at www.numericacu.com or drop off mittens, scarves, and hats at any Numerica branch – our team will be handing out to people waiting in line to get their Thanksgiving meal.*
-Blessings Under The Bridge: BUTB serves more than 350 homeless – including children and pets – at their weekly feed. Every Wednesday night (even through the winter months), they provide an area where those in need can enjoy a hearty dinner, pick up cold weather gear, get a haircut, and enjoy the company of volunteers. Visit www.butb.org/get-involved.html for more details on how you can get involved.
This list is just a start – there are so many amazing organizations in our area. I encourage you to search on www.volunteerspokane.org to find a cause you’re passionate about.
And of course, share the experience on your company’s social media pages! Make sure to show some love to the charities and organizations you helped, by tagging their page and linking to volunteer opportunities and online donation pages. This will get their name in front of your followers, all while you’re showing your crew’s culture of giving.
