Spokane Public Relations Council Unveils Its New Name & Logo at February 2nd Breakfast Meeting
Plus Special Guest Speaker, Steve Getzug, Senior V.P. from Hill & Knowlton, Los Angeles. 7:30 a.m. in Cataldo Hall, Gonzaga Univ.
We know it's Groundhog's Day, but we've got something a lot more exciting to show off than the shady side of an overgrown rodent. It's the new name, logo and mission for SPRC!
"After much research and discussion, the board of directors recently approved the new name, logo, and mission statement to more accurately represent its members and the goals of the organization," said Bethany Luck-Hutson, SPRC president.
Along with the new branding effort, attendees will enjoy an informative presentation by Steve Getzug, a Senior VP with International PR firm Hill & Knowlton's Los Angeles office. Steve's breakfast presentation is entitled:
Want to Heighten Your Value as a Communicator? Step No. 1: Listen
We do a lot of talking in public relations. It's our job. Fundamentally, building and telling the story, and telling it well, are core to achieving the goals our clients set for us to seed understanding of products, business offerings, ideas and more. But as communications counselors, listening first and listening well, and asking a lot of questions, may be the more critical ingredients to delivering a successful communications program -- and elevating the value public relations can bring to an organization and its leadership team.
A special thanks to Jennifer West, General Manager of Spokane's Rockey Hill & Knowlton office, whose enthusiasm for this topic has resulted in obtaining Mr. Getzug as both our breakfast presenter as well as workshop facilitator.
So remember to join us on Friday, February 2nd at 7:30 a.m. at Cataldo Hall on GU's campus (500 W. Boone) and listen to Steve Getzug, Senior Vice President of Hill & Knowlton's Los Angeles office.
And if that isn't enough to wake up Punxatauny Phil, the workshop that Steve Getzug is leading on "Selling the Value of PR to Decision Makers" that starts at 9:30 a.m. certainly will. See all the details below and RSVP for this great professional development opportunity.

It's Time...
It’s time for the big reveal! As of our breakfast meeting on Friday, February 2nd, the SPRC you know and love will become a broader version of itself by changing the name and logo of the organization to better reflect our membership. If you haven’t been to a breakfast meeting in a while, now is the perfect time to attend!
It’s time to get excited! We’re excited, and you should be too. This new organization aims to better serve the needs of our ever-changing, constantly growing membership. In order to better serve you, we need you to let us know what you want. Do you want more networking opportunities? Let us know! Do you want more opportunities to brainstorm with other communications professionals? Let us know! Do you want access to more resources? LET US KNOW! This organization is YOURS, so take some ownership in it. Contact any of the board members and let us know what YOU want out of our new PR/Marketing/Communications organization
It’s time to show PRSA some love! PRSA’s Spokane Chapter has been a fabulous partner to SPRC through the years. And we are happy to let you know that regardless of our name change, the wonderful partnership continues! The leadership of both organizations will continue to work together to provide valuable, informative monthly programming that will benefit all the PR practitioners, marketers and communications professionals who belong to our organizations. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the 2006 and 2007 PRSA Board of Directors who have been very understanding and patient with us through this process.
It’s time to say THANK YOU to Klundt Hosmer Design and Spokane Web Communications! Darin Klundt and Ashley Martin of Klundt Hosmer Design spent a great deal of time working with the SPRC Board to develop our new name and logo, and for that we owe them a debt of gratitude. And thanks to Jennifer Ferrero and Tony DeStefano of Spokane Web Communications, who are in the process of completely redesigning our web site to reflect the organization’s new identity.
It’s time to prove our worth! Attend the Workshop following our regularly scheduled breakfast meeting and take the opportunity to learn practical tips on selling the value of professional Public Relations to your clients, your CEO, or other decision makers within your organization. This opportunity is provided to you by SPRC Events Chair Jeff Thomas, SPRC Vice President & Programming Chair Dave Sonntag and Jennifer West, General Manager of Rockey Hill & Knowlton, who worked tirelessly to bring this experienced PR professional to Spokane to present to us. When you see Jeff, Dave or Jennifer, be sure to say thanks!
And finally…it’s time to embrace our new organization! Your experiences will be what you make of them. So, show up to meetings and workshops. Get excited. Take some ownership in the organization. Let us know what you want. And make the most of the time you get to spend networking with and learning from your colleagues and peers.
Have a fabulous February! I look forward to seeing you all at the official unveiling of the organization’s new name and logo at breakfast (be sure to arrive by 7:30 a.m. for the start of the program) and then at the workshop on Friday, February 2nd!
