May 2005 Program
Living the Brand at Itron

Tim Wolf, the director of marketing at Itron, will speak on “Living the Brand at Itron” during the SPRC/PRSA monthly breakfast meeting at Gonzaga University’s COG on Friday, May 6, at 7:30 a.m. His presentation will cover the topics of building brand equity in the context of Itron and what Itron has done to ensure that living and building the brand is every employee's responsibility.

Based in Spokane Valley, Itron is a leading technology provider to the global energy and water industries. More than 3,000 utilities worldwide rely on Itron technology to deliver the knowledge they require to optimize the delivery and use of energy and water. Over the past three years Itron has built on its industry leading position in meter data collection technology for utilities by acquiring five additional companies and repositioning itself as an integrated solutions provider to the global utility industry.

As director of marketing, Wolf’s responsibilities include overseeing Itron's marketing communications group, overall brand management and marketing strategy development.

Prior to coming to Itron in 1998, Mr. Wolf's professional experience included journalism as a newspaper reporter, and public relations work in the non-profit/higher education field. He holds a degree in journalism and political science from the University of Minnesota.

SPARC Awards Going on Year 10!
By Sara Johnston, SPRC president

Spring has sprung, the SPARC Awards 2005 are here and it’s time to celebrate! The upcoming awards ceremony marks the 10th year of this fabulous event! Over the past decade we’ve had the opportunity to come together as a group, network, dress up, win prizes, battle over the best auction items, dine on great food and even skip down the yellow brick road.  The locations change, the theme changes, the physical appearance of the awards change too – but the purpose of the award ceremony remains constant: to celebrate and honor excellence in public relations. In the process, we’re also raising internship funds for three very deserving students.

In just a few short weeks, on Thursday, May 19, we’ll come together at the Spokane Athletic Club for the awards ceremony. The entries that you’ve invested so much time and energy developing are currently being judged from as far away as Arizona. The SPARC Planning Committee, chaired by Bethany Luck-Hutson, is working away to ensure that this year’s event is a hit. Earlier this year, SPRC sent out a survey on the SPARC Awards to determine the elements that members valued most about the event, and based on the findings, we’ve enhanced the evening and made a few changes. It’s sure to be a night to remember and I’m looking forward to seeing you all there!
