Branding on a Budget: A Panel Discussion with Indaba Coffee, YogaJoy North, & Sweet Frostings Bakeshop

For MarCom's April program, we are excited to present a panel on branding with three local business owners that have built successful and reputable brands on a budget. Our panel speakers will be Bobby Enslow, Founder and CEO of Indaba, Sara Desautel Douville, Owner of YogaJoy, and Sally Winfrey, Owner of Sweet Frostings. They will discuss how they developed and grew their brands without a large marketing budget, how they've stood out in saturated industries, what they've found to be most important in growing their brand, what they've done for free to make a big impact, and more!

About Bobby Enslow

Bobby Enslow is the Founder and CEO of Indaba Coffee. He has his degree in finance and his MBA from Washington State University where he recieved the Val Miskin distinguished MBA scholar award. He founded Indaba in 2009 with the simple mission to Love People, Love Coffee, and in 2012, he was recognized as one of Spokane’s best baristas in the local Inlander publication. In 2015 he was featured in the Spokane Journal Business as a “Rising Star”, and was awarded the local AGORA Award for Community service the following year. Indaba now operates three locations with a fourth one set to open soon. Enslow currently lives in West Central Spokane with his wife Sheena and three kids Carson, Avery, and Owen.

About Sara Desautel Douville

In January 2017, Sara launched a new local business and brand—YogaJoy. Together with her mother and business partner, Cher Desautel, the two women created a welcoming, serene, and comfortable studio with yoga, barre, retail, and childcare in one location. Prior to starting YogaJoy, Sara directed several public relations, marketing, and communication initiatives at DH (formally Desautel Hege Communications) from 2007-2017. During that time, she was integral to the brand development, re-branding, and brand refresh of several entities across a variety of sectors, ranging from entertainment to health care to educational institutions and a number of non-profits. Sara earned an Accreditation in Public Relations in 2014 and will complete her Master’s in Communication and Leadership from Gonzaga University in Spring 2019.

About Sally Winfrey

Sally worked her way up to regional salesperson for food giant ADM Milling Co. So, when her good friend Judy asked her to give it all up to start a bakery, naturally she said “NO WAY”. Eventually the idea of spending less time on the road won over, and Sally brought her extensive baking experience to Sweet Frostings. She has since bought the company and has opened a few new stores, making 4 locations total. Sally currently oversees them with help from her daughter Jessica.

Sally was raised in the small Washington town of Gig Harbor and later attended Tacoma Community College for Business Management. After decorating cakes at Safeway for 11 years, she was promoted to bakery merchandiser and relocated to the Inland Northwest. Five years later she became a merchandiser for URM Stores. In 2000, she took a sales position with ADM Milling Co., which gave her the opportunity to attend the American Institute of Baking. Sally and her husband David have three children.
