The Spark Awards are presented by the Spokane Regional Marketing and Communications Association (Spokane MarCom) to recognize the best work by local marketing, communications and public relations professionals.

Local professionals submitted about 100 entries ranging from publications and feature stories, to website designs and media relations campaigns. The award entries were sent to the Seattle Society of Professional Marketing Services to be judged. The top three out of all submissions received Brightest Spark Awards.

The three Brightest Spark Awards chosen from individual projects, based on numerical scoring by the judges, were as follows:

External Marketing Communications
Gonzaga University, Magner Sanborn, Dori Sonntag, Pat Reese, Dave Sonntag, Matt Gollnick, and Joe Poss for
Share Inspiration Campaign

Community/Government Relations
City of Spokane and Hanna and Associates for
Slow the Flow Campaign

External Marketing Communications
Spokane Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau and Klundt | Hosmer for
SpoTweetDeals Twitter Campaign

The Dussault Award was chosen from these three Brightest Spark Awards at the discretion of the judges. This “best of show” award must receive high scores and be recognized as a campaign/program that had a significant impact on the economy and prosperity of our region. The winner of the Dussault Brightest Spark Award was:

External Marketing Communications
Gonzaga University, Magner Sanborn, Dori Sonntag, Pat Reese, Dave Sonntag, Matt Gollnick, and Joe Poss for
Share Inspiration Campaign

The judges of this year’s Spark Awards had this to say about the Dussault Brightest Spark Award: It was an honor to take part in the judging of the 2010 Spark Awards. It is clear that your community has top-notch marketing professionals who care deeply about their companies and excel at what they do. After viewing all the entries the judges determined that one entry rose to the top. Gonzaga University’s Share Inspiration entry WOWED the judges with their simple yet engaging graphics and a compelling yet personal touch of voice. This was a winning combination, one that hit the mark with their goals and tugged on the heartstrings of the audience – which is exactly what you want for a fundraising campaign in your local community.

The judges also awarded Excellence and Merit Awards for each submission category based upon specified criteria. All of the award winners are listed below.

Spokane MarCom is Spokane’s leading communication organization dedicated to advancing the integrated marketing communication profession through professional development, community impact and commitment to credibility.
